Happy Adventures At The Amusement Park by me, Happy

Updated on March 18, 2013

I Love Amusement Parks

Hi. I'm Happy. I'm a little Bichon Bolognese dog. I live in Niagara Falls, New York with my human Mama and Daddy. We like to travel in our car. We like to go to amsuement parks. Dogs are not allowed in most amusement parks unless they are helper dogs. I'm not a helper dog.

There are some very special parks that let all kinds of good dogs walk around with their humans. Two of my favorite amusement parks are Knoebels in Pennsylvania and Carousel Park in Olcott, New York. I love amusement parks. There are lots of people who want to pet me and give me treats. Sometimes I can go on the rides with my humans parents.

Mostly I love amusement parks because of all the great smells and the yummy food. People drop all kinds of food on the ground, like French Fries and popcorn. So I try to eat it. If I'm lucky, I'll find a hamburger or hot dog. I always hope for a lick of ice cream. Mama and Daddy don't like when I eat these foods. I try to gobble them up when they are not looking. Mama always catches me before I can eat anything. Daddy doesn't notice much. I like when he's sitting with me and Mama is on a ride.

Going to an amusement park is always an adventure. Come see for yourself! Donations are being made to the ASPCA from this lens.

My mama and daddy took all these pictures of me.

Carousel Park, Olcott, NY

Carousel Park is a small amusement park on Lake Ontario. We live 45 minutes away. Mama volunteers there during the summer. She runs the Sky Fighter ride or helps at the Skeeball game. The park has 5 old fashioned kiddie rides and an antique carousel.

There is also a food stand. They have good French Fries.

It is free to enter the park. People just pay 25 cents per ride. Dogs are allowed in the park too. I meet all kinds of good dogs at Carousel Park. There are big dogs and little dogs and in-between-dogs. I like when they have music bands because I like to dance.

If our friends, Dan and Anne, are volunteering at the park, Dan will let me ride the carousel with Mama. I like to ride in the chariot. Most dogs don't like rides.

Carousel Park has a doggie station with free biscuits, fresh water, and doodoo pick up bags. We dogs like to keep the park clean so we will always be welcome.

Carousel Dogs

Some carousels have animals on them, not just horses. Mama has some carousel dog figurines in her collection.

Knoebels

I love Knoebels. It is the best amusement park in the world. All sorts of dogs walk around in the park.

There are lots and lots of food stands. The air is just full of good food smells; pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs, fish, French fries, onion rings, fried dough, pierogies, tacos, roasted nuts, roast beef, spaghetti, yummm. I could talk about Knoebels' food all day.

A creek runs through the park and you have to walk over bridges to go back and forth from one side of the park to the other. Knoebels has fun bridges. One bridge has holes in it so you can look down at the creek. The park is in the woods, so there are a lot of squirrels around too.

There are lots of rides for big humans and little humans. Some of those rides are too big and scary for a little dog like me. Mama and Daddy take turns riding and watching me. I watch all the other dogs.

Knoebles is lots of fun. Everyone pets me, even the park owner. Sometimes we play mini golf. I like to chase the balls.

This picture is of me and Daddy on the covered bridge. It was raining that day so we are wet and muddy. Mama says the roller coasters run faster in the rain.

My Tips for Traveling With Your Dog In a Car

1. Make sure I ride in the backseat and I am securely strapped in.

2. Don't let me stick my head out the window. I can get stuff in my eyes.

3.Make plenty of stops at nice rest areas where I can run and stretch my legs and take care of business.

4. Always keep me on a leash so I don't get confused and run away.

5. Use a harness that can hook up to the leash. It's much more comfortable than hooking up to my collar.

6. Bring plenty of my food and favorite treats and plenty of fresh water.

7. Put my favorite pillow or blanket in my travel crate so it smells like home.

8. Bring my favorite toys for me to play with.

9. Make sure I know all my commands so I can be a good doggie while we travel.

10. Make sure I have all my shots, my ID tags, and I'm microchipped. Carry my paperwork with you.

Don't take me travelling if:

1. I get car sick even when just going a short distance.

2. I don't get along with other dogs.

3. I don't get along with humans.

4. I bark a lot and don't obey the quiet command.

5. I don't walk nicely on the leash.
